5 things to consider when having your bathroom photographed

When having your bathroom photographed for your accommodation listing, it's important to showcase its features and ambiance effectively.

Here are five key considerations:

1 // Cleanliness and tidiness: Before having any photos captured, ensure that the bathroom is spotlessly clean and clutter-free. Remove any personal items such as toiletries that might detract from the visual appeal. A clean, tidy space will make a much better impression on potential guests.

2 // Lighting: Good lighting can make a significant difference in how a bathroom appears in photographs. Natural light is ideal, so if possible, open any windows to let in sunlight. Additionally, consider supplementing with artificial lighting such as overhead fixtures or hidden strip lighting to brighten up darker areas and create a welcoming atmosphere.

3 // Colours: Colours should flow through the whole property seamlessly and the theme shouldn’t stop at the bathroom! Consider adding a subtle pop of colour with coordinating accessories.

4 // Staging: Adding decorative touches can enhance the appeal of the bathroom and create a more inviting atmosphere. Place fresh towels on towel racks or neatly folded on countertops, arrange a few decorative items like a plant or vase, and just be sure not to overdo it—keep the staging simple and tasteful.

5 // Focus on amenities: Highlight any special features or amenities that set your bathroom apart. This could include luxurious additions like a spa bathtub, rainfall shower head, heated towel racks, or upscale toiletries. Your photographer will make sure these features are clearly visible in your photos, including close-up shots to showcase their details- so make sure they are something you’re happy with!

And if this all seems a bit overwhelming, consider asking if your photographer will do any styling during the shoot for you!
