How to Prepare for a Stress-Free Photography Session

A smooth photography session starts before the camera ever comes out. With a little preparation, you can feel more relaxed, save time on the day, and enjoy the experience from beginning to end.

One of the best things you can do is plan ahead.

If you are adding people in to your accommodation listing images be sure to choose outfits early, keep accessories simple, and make sure everything is ready the day before. If your session is just for your accommodation, this also means tidying key spaces and checking that each area is presentation-ready.

When you book in a session with me, I will provide a questionnaire and a consultation call prior to the shoot to ensure we have covered everything that needs to be completed before the day. I have found over the years, this takes a lot of stress out of the day!

Photoshoots are best when there is time to reschedule for bad weather or renovation delays, this again, takes the pressure off and makes the process far less stressful- BUT if there is a quick turn-around time needed, be prepared as possible and allow for a few things to maybe not be possible should the weather not play nice or decor items to not arrive on time.

If people, staff or family members are part of the session, set expectations in advance. Let everyone know the plan so they feel comfortable and know what to expect. A relaxed mindset always helps create better results.

For accommodation photography, small details make a big difference. Open curtains for natural light, remove distractions from surfaces, and highlight the features that make the property feel inviting to guests.

Most importantly, trust the process. I will guide the session with a polished, professional approach so you can focus on feeling prepared and confident. When the day feels easy, the final images reflect that same sense of calm and quality.

And I almost forgot to write which podcast I'm currently listening to while editing- ABC Conversations!

My cousin recommended it and it's kept me very entertained over the past 3 weeks. There is a lot of different content on there to suit whatever my mood is for that day.

Here's to a successful second half of the year!
